Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award to announce winners of its 7th edition

December 05, 2022 The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award will be announcing the winners of the seventh edition on December 6, 2022, during an award ceremony that will be organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation at Al Joud Ballroom, Hilton Al Habtoor, Al Habtoor City, Dubai. The 2022 Global Knowledge Index will be unveiled also during the Youth Knowledge Forum, which is being conducted by MBRF in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on the sidelines of the award ceremony.

The Award, which is given each year to pioneers who have made significant regional and international contributions to information creation and sharing, intends to aid in the creation of the knowledge economy and encourage community sustainability. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award honours outstanding contributions made by knowledge pioneers from around the world in order to promote knowledge development locally, regionally, and internationally and to raise awareness of the value of knowledge generation as one of the fundamental pillars of thriving societies. The Award embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai, mission to inspire creativity and innovation and celebrate creative minds from across the world through outstanding awards in various sectors.

Following a review of the contenders who were selected in accordance with the Consulting Committee's recommendations, the Award winners are announced. The Award's standards and criteria were met by the finalists, who also made noteworthy contributions to knowledge creation and sharing across the globe. The Board of Trustees for the Award has narrowed down the list of nominees in advance of announcing the winners.

HE Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, stressed the significance of the Award and its role in reaffirming knowledge's place as one of the pillars for improving people's lives, organisations, and societies. He continued by saying that the Prize supports artists across disciplines and recognises noteworthy contributions to knowledge creation and dissemination around the world. He went on to say that since the Award's founding, it has risen to a renowned position among international honours given to knowledge pioneers whose discoveries and efforts have improved people's lives. He added that the Award's board of trustees is eager to carefully review the candidacy applications and evaluate the knowledge products in order to select the winner in the final phase. HE also noted that the Award is receiving high levels of participation from individuals and organisations in the field of knowledge.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award also honoured three winners in its previous edition, namely Saudi Aramco, one of the world's leading companies in the field of energy and chemicals; the National Institute of Education (NIE), one of the oldest and leading academic institutions in the field of excellence and leadership in education and educational research in Singapore; and Henrik von Scheele, the internationally renowned personality as the founder of Industry 4.0, a pioneer of the European digital revolution, and a member of the advisory board of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Germany.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award was created in 2014 to honour the world's knowledge pioneers and showcase their most significant contributions to the various branches of knowledge. The Award, which has USD 1 million worth, is given in all areas of knowledge, innovation, leadership, and creativity. It also recognises achievements in scientific research, developing educational institutions, communication technology, paper and electronic printing, publishing, and documentation.
