Launching the ‘Literacy Challenge in the Arab World’

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, launched the “Literacy Challenge in the Arab World” initiative, which seeks to benefit 30 million Arab youths and children by the year 2030.

The initiative is organised in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF); the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO); and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The launch was announced ahead of the opening session of the Knowledge Summit 2017 in Dubai, which was held under the patronage and in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, MBRF Chairman; and H.H. Sheikh Mansour Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum lauded the initiative, wishing the Foundation great success in achieving the project’s objectives and providing education to a vast number of youths and children across the Arab world.
