Dr. Hegazi Idris

Regional Program Specialist in Basic and Adult Education

Dr. Hegazi Idris is Regional Program Specialist in Basic and Adult Education at the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Arab States. From his station in Beirut, he leads the team to provide emergency education in Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. Previously, he worked in the same capacity at the UNESCO Khartoum Head Office, representing and coordinating the organization’s work with other UN agencies as well as mobilizing resources and partnerships to support the mission. Additionally, he was the initiator and team leader on alternative pathways to education in countries in crisis. Dr. Idris has published several books including “Inclusive Education Regional Teacher Toolkits: Embracing Diversity” and “Regional Teacher Toolkit in Psychosocial Support in Crisis”.
