Chavia has been active for more than 20 years in defending human rights and the rights of people of determination regionally and globally. She holds a master’s degree in international human rights law from Lund University and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights in Sweden, and a bachelor’s degree in law from Aleppo University in Syria. She has been working as the Regional Liaison Officer for the Persons with Disabilities in the Regional Office for Arab States of the UNDP
