Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno

Minister of Culture, Egypt

Dr. Ahmed Fouad Abdel-Salam Hanno was born on December 13, 1968, in Cairo and has been Egypt’s Minister of Culture since July 3, 2024. He is a university professor specializing in animation arts and the philosophy of art. He holds a BA in Fine Arts (Printmaking) from Helwan University (1992), an MA in Experimental Animation Films from Cairo University (1997), and a PhD in the Philosophy of Art with a specialization in visual communication and animated film creation.

He has held several academic leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University (2019), Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design at Galala University (2021), and Vice President for Student Affairs at Galala University (2023). He began his academic career as a teaching assistant and later professor in the Department of Graphics at Helwan University. He has also taught at other institutions, including the German University in Cairo and Nile University.

Dr. Hanno is a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists and the Syndicate of Animation Artists. He has received several awards, including Best Animated Film Design (2014), Best Director at the Cairo International Animation Festival (2020), the Excellence Award at the Luxor Forum for African Arts (2020), and a distinguished honor from Helwan University (2021).
