Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt

Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour was born on 12 December 1960 and has served as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Arab Republic of Egypt since August 2022, following his appointment as Deputy Minister of Higher Education for University Affairs in December 2019.
He previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University beginning in October 2014, and has been a Professor of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Housing at the same faculty since 2005.
Dr. Ashour earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1982, a Master's degree in Engineering Sciences in 1986, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Housing from the Netherlands in 1985. He later obtained his Ph.D. in Architecture and Housing from the Moscow Institute of Architecture in 1993.
Throughout his career, he has led numerous national development projects, including the establishment and modernization of universities, railway passenger stations, and archaeological heritage sites (notably, the Karnak Temple Square), in collaboration with various government institutions.
