Dr. Ahmed Eid AlMheiri

Emirati theoretical physicist

Dr. Ahmed Almheiri is an Emirati physicist and a faculty member at the School of Natural Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), Princeton University, USA.

He is the first Emirati to be accepted for postdoctoral studies at this prestigious school, which specializes in theoretical physics research.

Dr. Almheiri is also a recipient of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award (MBRKA) 2024. Renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to theoretical physics, Almheiri has conducted extensive research on black holes, inspiring future generations to innovate and delve deeper into scientific discovery.

In 2020, he received the New Horizons in Physics Prize from the Breakthrough Prize Foundation. In 2019, he was awarded the Pride of the Emirates Medal by the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award.

He also earned the Best PhD Dissertation Award from the University of California for his outstanding work in mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering.

Dr. Almheiri graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering science, specializing in physics, from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2008.

He earned his master’s degree in mathematics and natural sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2010, where he also completed his PhD in physics in 2014.
