Armen has over 15 years of professional experience in implementing rural development programmes focused on analysis of food security, and agricultural policy.
Prior to joining FAO Subregional Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council States and Yemen, he was the Policy Officer at FIRST; the Food and Nutrition Security Impact, Resilience, Sustainability and Transformation Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic, providing technical assistance in the formulation of the Food Security and Nutrition Programme in Kyrgyzstan.
He also worked in Bangladesh at ‘Meeting the Undernutrition Challenge Project’, contributing to the monitoring of the country investment plan for agriculture, food security and nutrition, and as Chief Technical Advisor in Tajikistan, with a project led by the EU and FAO. Armen was also FAO National Professional Officer, coordinating agriculture and rural development projects in Armenia.
Armen has a degree in International Economics from the Yerevan State University, and a PhD from the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics in the Republic of Armenia.
