Currently the Executive Vice President of the Institute of International Education (IIE). Before joining the IIE staff in 2017, he served on its Board of Trustees.
He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., and serves as Chair of Programs Committee at Washington National Cathedral.
He previously served as President & CEO of the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress (CSPC), a non-partisan policy organization in Washington, D.C. He was also Managing Director of the Richard Lounsbery Foundation, a New York philanthropic institution that awards grants to support scientific and medical research, as well as science and technology policy, education, international relations, and security programs.
He has served as Special Assistant to the Vice Chairman of the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) in Washington and as Adviser to the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy (AILA) at CSIS.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and a Master of Arts in International Science & Technology Policy from the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.
