Ralph Tabberer has 40 years of experience in schools, research, teacher training and policy. He was the Director General of Schools in England between 2006 and 2009, after serving for six years as Chief Executive of the Teacher Training Agency.
Ralph left the UK civil service in 2009 and moved to the Middle East to join the GEMS as Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Schools. In 2012, Ralph established the first of his own businesses, supporting schools. He now owns, co-owns and chairs five educational businesses providing consultancy, solutions, management, HR and recruitment support for nurseries and schools, and for international school chains, under the collective name of BBD Education.
Ralph is a graduate of Cambridge University. He is a visiting professor at the Institute of Education, University College of London and an Honorary Professor at Warwick University. He was included in the 2009 New Year Honours list.
