Riel Miller is a pioneer in the theory and practice of using the future to change what people see and do. He began his career at the OECD in Paris in 1982 and holds a PhD in Economics from the New School for Social Research, New York. Riel has worked for the Ontario government, including the legislature and Ministries of Finance, as well as in universities and industry. He later returned to the OECD, contributing to the International Futures Programme and the Centre for Educational Research & Innovation.
He founded an independent consultancy, Xperidox (meaning "knowledge through experience"), and served as Head of Foresight & Futures Literacy at UNESCO. Since early 2022, Riel has been affiliated as a Senior Fellow with numerous universities worldwide, including the Universities of New Brunswick, Stavanger, Witwatersrand, Stanford, and East China Normal University.
