Managing Director of the Bahrain Economic Development Board
Dr. Simon Galpin was appointed Managing Director of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) in February 2016, where he leads in FDI promotion and business development.
The Economic Development Board is a dynamic government agency responsible for formulating and overseeing the economic development strategy of the Kingdom of Bahrain and creating the right climate to attract direct investment into the Kingdom.
Previously, as Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, he was also actively involved in promoting Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem. Prior to joining InvestHK, he spent 10 years with Scottish Enterprise – at the time Europe’s largest economic development agency. Dr. Galpin also worked as a Member of Market Development Committee (2013-2016) and President of World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (2013).
Dr. Galpin has many years of professional and academic experience, being a Doctor of Juridical Science, holding Master’s Degrees in Business Administration, Local Economic Development and International Business Law, and recently having graduated as a Doctor of Juridical Science.
