In 2013, AlKaabi highlighted the importance of establishing a center dedicated to forecasting the future at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), and also called for applying future foresight tools in various MoI departments. Since then, Mr. AlKaabi launched several initiatives related to future foresight, and he lectures throughout the country about futures studies and future scenarios.
Mr. AlKaabi is the first person from the UAE and Gulf region to join the Association of Professional Futurists (APF), and he is also a member of the World Future Society (WFS).
In July 2015, he proposed to establish a Foresight Center within the Federal Government, based in the Office of the Prime Minister, and to establish a department dedicated to future foresight in every ministry.
Mr. AlKaabi is the author of the “Future Foresight Encyclopedia” in Arabic, the first of its kind in the Arab World.
He holds an MSc degree from the University of Teesside, UK, and a Bachelor’s from Abu Dhabi Police College. Currently, Mr. AlKaabi is preparing his doctoral thesis at the University of Bradford, UK titled “Future Foresight: a New Approach in the UAE Government.”
