Dr. Aaesha Al-Nuaimi received her M.Sc. and PhD in Microsystem Engineering from Masdar Institute of science and technology in 2013 and 2017 respectively. During her studies, she worked as a research and teaching assistant in the electrical engineering department. In 2012, she gained experience as an intern at Global Foundries, the world’s second largest semi-conductor foundry.
Dr. Aaesha Al-Nuaimi was awarded the Young Emirati Researcher Prize in 2013 by the National Research Foundation in recognition of her research on thin film crystalline silicon photovoltaics solar cells. In addition, Dr. Aaesha Al-Nuaimi received the Sheikh Rashid Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement for her PhD work on graphene/silicon Schottky junction solar cells.
Her research interests are in the areas of novel materials for photovoltaics and optoelectronics devices, silicon-based solar cells and modules and graphene-based devices. She has co-authored more than 20 conference proceedings and scientific journal papers in ranked journals and international conferences.
Currently, Dr. Aaesha Al-Nuaimi works as a Sr. R&D Technologist at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) R&D Center in Muhammad Bin Rashid Solar Park where she is exploring the performance and reliability of silicon and thin film PV module technologies in desert climatic condition and studying the impact of dust and different cleaning methods on the performance of PV modules.
