Egyptian journalist Abdel-Mohsen Salama has a long record of journalistic experience; he has worked for Al Ahram daily newspaper since 1987 and is Chairman of Al Ahram organisation since 2017. That same year, he was also elected 21st Head of Egyptian Syndicate of Journalists, gaining more than 70% of the votes, the highest percentage ever, after promising to improve the financial situation of journalists and save the syndicate from crisis.
Prior to that, Abdel-Mohsen held several leading positions including as former Vice-president of the Egyptian Syndicate of Journalists (2010), board member of Al Ahram organisation (2006-2017), Manager and Editor of Al Ahram newspaper, and Head of Investigation Department at Al Ahram daily newspaper.
Abdel-Mohsen graduated from the Faculty of Communication, Cairo University (1985). He has published many articles in Al Ahram newspaper, gaining a reputation as a supporter of Arab nationalism, joint Arab action and freedom of information.
