UAE Country Director and Representative for the GCC Region, WFP
Mr. Abdul Majeed Yahya is the Director of the United Nations World Food Program Office in the United Arab Emirates and WFP Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. Not only Mr. Abdul Majeed manages the support and provision of services for humanitarian operations, but also leads efforts to reinforce the program partnership with government bodies as well as the private and public sectors in the region.
Mr. Yahya enjoys over 30-year experience in humanitarian work in both emergency and development areas. He started his humanitarian journey with the United Nations in Sudan within the framework of Operation Lifeline Sudan. Yahya began his work with the World Food Program in Rwanda in 1997 and has since served in a variety of field offices and main offices providing support to areas devastated by conflict, genocide, famine and natural disasters. His expertise includes: humanitarian and relief aid in Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Niger and Malawi as well as Rwanda and Burundi in the 1990s.
Mr. Yahya, a Sudanese National holding a university degree in law from Morocco, is married and has three children.
