Chief of ICT Policies and Digital Development, ESCWA
Ayman El-Sherbiny is currently the Chief of ICT Policies, Digital Cooperation, and Digital Development at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
He brings over three decades of diverse experience and senior leadership at the executive level: as a Board Member and CEO in the ICT sector, then as a Chief Policy Strategist in International Development.
For the past two decades, as a senior UN official and international diplomat, El-Sherbiny has founded and led several landmark international, regional, and national developmental programs, including the Arab Internet Governance Forum, the Arab High-Level Forum on WSIS and the 2030 Agenda, and the Arab International Digital Cooperation and Development Forum.
His recent research includes AI, Data Governance, Digital for Environment, and peaceful use of Outer Space. Among his recent accomplishments are conceiving and leading multi-organizational efforts to develop the Arab Digital Agenda 2023–2033, adopted by Heads of Arab States in 2023.
