Director of the Governance office, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the College of Medicine at MBRU
Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi is the Director of the Governance office and an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the College of Medicine at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Al Suwaidi brings a broad experience in clinical practice, healthcare administration and health policy and regulation in both the public and private sectors. She earned her medical degree from the UAE University and completed her postgraduate training in Family Medicine for which she is cretified by the Arab Board and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Dr. Al Suwaidi also holds a Masters in Public Health from Hamdan Mohammad Smart University and a Diploma in Diabetes Management from UAE University. During her tenure with the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Hanan was instrumental in sevaral strategic and operational initiatives for healthcare funding including the design and implementation of the first national government-based health insurance scheme in Dubai (SAADA).
Most recently, and shortly after joining MBRU, Dr. Al Suwaidi made history by being the first Emirati space Flight Physician to support the UAE’s first mission to the International Space Station, scheduled for launch last September 2019.
In 2020, Dr. Al Suwaidi was assigned as the lead for the testing stream at the COVID-19 Command and Control Centre, overseeing the COVID-19 testing efforts in Dubai. In 2021 she is leading the vaccination roll out plan for the emirate of Dubai.
