Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt
Currently a professor at Cairo University, Professor Motaz Khorshid is a former Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Minister of State for Scientific Research. He has held several key positions including Vice-president of Cairo University and the British University in Egypt, Chief Technical Advisor for Socioeconomic Development Planning Support Systems in the United Nations, as well as Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information of Cairo University.
Professor Khorshid obtained his first PhD in Computer Sciences and Operations Research, and a second PhD in Management Sciences, from Paris University, France. He also holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Cairo University and a BSc in Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Professor Khorshid has developed several social accounting matrices and economy-wide models for a number of Arab Countries. His research interest includes computer-aided Modeling and Decision Support Systems, Computer Simulation Methodology, Economy-wide Modeling and Analysis, and Management of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Professor Khorshid was awarded the Academic Palm by the French government for his efforts in promoting bilateral relations between Egypt and France in the fields of culture, education and scientific research.
