Former Minister of in charge of Major Reforms, Tunisia, Professor of Economics, and Economic Advisor, UNDP
Prof. Taoufik Rajhi is a Full Professor of Economics in France and an Economic Adviser to UNDP. He previously served the Government of Tunisia as Minister of Grand Reforms and Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, and as a Ministerial Adviser in the Prime Minister’s Office. He also served as Chief Research Economist at the African Development Bank.
He has advised the World Bank, IMF, UNDP, the European Union, and ESCWA on macroeconomic prudence and stability. His work includes supporting macroeconomic frameworks and modelling platforms for Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, and Mauritania, and contributing to an M&E system for Syria. As Minister of Employment, he finalized Tunisia’s national employment strategy and led the government’s skills and jobs agenda.
Dr. Rajhi has taught at Sorbonne Paris I and Orléans and currently teaches at Poitiers, covering growth, macroeconomics, fiscal policy and debt, environmental constraints, development policy, and econometric modelling. He holds a BA (high honors) from the University of Amiens, three linked MA degrees, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris I, Panthéon–Sorbonne (1992).
