Harris Irfan is Chairman of the UK Islamic FinTech Panel and Partner at Gateway LLP, the professional services firm. He is also author of the critically acclaimed bestseller, Heaven’s Bankers: Inside the Hidden World of Islamic Finance.
Harris is an investment banker with 25 years of experience in London and the Middle East. He co-founded Deutsche Bank’s Islamic finance team, where he led a number of world firsts, and was CEO of its Islamic finance subsidiary. He was subsequently appointed global head of Islamic finance at Barclays, before leading the investment banking division at European Islamic Investment Bank/Rasmala. He is also the founder of Cordoba Capital, an Islamic finance and fintech consulting firm.
Heaven’s Bankers received critical acclaim from the world’s leading press, including the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. Harris writes on Islamic finance for the international press, including The Guardian, Foreign Affairs and Forbes, and appears frequently in the media, including the BBC and CNN.
Harris has a degree in Physics from the University of Oxford.
