Chairman, Independent Election Commission in Jordan, and President, Arab Organization for Electoral Management (EMBs)
H.E. Musa Al Maaytah is the Chairman of the Independent Election Commission in Jordan (IEC) and the President of the Arab Organization for Electoral Management (EMBs). He has played a key role in advancing Jordan’s democratic process.
He previously held several governmental positions, including Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs (2016–2022), Minister of Political Development (2009–2011), and served as a member of the Jordanian Senate (2013–2016). He has been a strong advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment, leading the Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment from 2019 to 2022.
Before his official roles, Mr. Maaytah was an active political leader, helping to found the United Democratic Party, which unified four parties, and serving as its Secretary General in 1996. He holds a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering and remains committed to promoting inclusive political participation and democratic governance.
