Prof. Yousry Elgamal is Professor of Computer Engineering, senior advisor at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST), and Chairman of the Computer Scientific Society in Alexandria. He served as Egypt’s Minister of Education (2005–2010), chaired the Board of Trustees of E-JUST (2010–2014), and was senior consultant to Egypt’s National Telecommunications Institute. He edits the journal Advances in Computing and Engineering (ACE) and sits on the Global Knowledge Index expert group.
At AAST, Elgamal held several leadership roles: Vice President for Education and Research, Founding Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, Founding Chair of Electronics & Communication, and Assistant to the President for Informatics. He also lectured in Nuclear Electronics at the IAEA.
He holds a BSc (Alexandria), MSc (Ain Shams), and DSc in Computer Science (George Washington University), and received the Richard Merwin Award (1984). He serves on boards at Bibliotheca Alexandrina and is active in Alexandria’s civil society.
