International Consultant in Composite Indicators and Climate change and Environmental Issues
Daniela Benavente is an international consultant and leading specialist in composite indicators and global scoreboards, expertise she honed over 15 years in Geneva. She has contributed to flagship projects with major institutions, including the Global Knowledge Index (UNDP/MBRF), Global Innovation Index (WIPO/INSEAD), ICT Development Index (ITU), and EU initiatives such as the European Skills Index, Transitions Performance Index, and the JRC’s index pre-auditing tool. Her work also spans poverty and development metrics with UN-IFAD, FAO, ITC, the OECD, and the World Bank.
She is equally active in sustainability and climate action: Executive Coordinator of the Scientific Committee under Chile’s COP25 Presidency (2019), Metrics Officer for the UN High-Level Climate Champions’ Race to Resilience (2021), and advisor on just-transition finance (UNDP), OECD’s Environmental Performance Review of Chile, and Chile’s emission offset system and environmental tax reform.
Benavente holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Católica, MAs from Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University, and a PhD from the Graduate Institute, Geneva.
