Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro received his Ph.D. from Osaka University, Japan, in 1991. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Systems Innovation at Osaka University and Visiting Director of Hiroshi Ishiguro Laboratories at ATR.
In addition, he serves as Project Manager of the MOONSHOT R&D Project, Thematic Project Producer of EXPO 2025 Osaka, and CEO of AVITA, Inc. His research focuses on interactive robotics, androids, and avatars, including Geminoid, an android replica of himself.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Ishiguro has received numerous prestigious awards. These include the Osaka Cultural Award (2011), the Prize for Science and Technology by the Japanese Minister of Education (2015), the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award in Dubai (2015), the Tateisi Award (2020), and an honorary doctorate from Aarhus University (2021).
