Dr. Khaled Mohamed Oun is President of the University of Tripoli and a senior geologist with a Ph.D. from Trinity College, University of Dublin (1990). He has spent over four decades at the University of Tripoli’s Geology Department, advancing from demonstrator to full professor and research leader.
He previously served as Director of the Academic Staff Department and Chief Editor of the Libyan Journal of Science, and sat on the Executive Committee of the Union of Arab Universities. His management roles span the Water Wells Authority, the National Mining Corporation, and the General Water Authority, alongside long-standing leadership within the Earth Sciences Society of Libya.
Dr. Oun has published around 30 scientific papers in international journals and conferences and co-edited several landmark volumes on the geology of Libya. He is the recipient of the “Pioneer Arab Geologists” Award Shield (GAW, Egypt, 2008).
