Mohamed Hedi Bchir is Strategic Advisor to the Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States. An economist with 23+ years of experience, he specializes in economic modelling, strategic planning, sustainable development policy, and program design and management.
Before UNDP, he was Senior Economist at the World Bank for Libya and Chief of the Modeling & Forecasting Section at UN-ESCWA. He has partnered with the United Nations, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank, advising policymakers on linking the real economy with labor-market transformation and fiscal sustainability.
Bchir has built country-specific CGE models across the Arab region and contributed to global models such as MIRAGE. His research appears in reputable journals. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris Panthéon–Sorbonne.
