Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for the Care and Building Capacity Sector
As Assistant Undersecretary for the Welfare and Capacity Building Sector at the Ministry of Education since 2016, Her Excellency Dr. Amna Al Dahhak Al Shamsi has led several strategic programs and initiatives centered on discovering talents, enriching students’ abilities, and empowering them.
She acted as an official spokesperson for the UAE government during the COVID-19 pandemic and participated in national media briefings and ministerial sessions, in addition to speaking at multilateral international conferences and sessions for various entities.
She received a Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Engineering at Khalifa University, a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Sharjah, and a Diploma in Government Innovation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation. She taught at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sharjah.
Moreover, she won the Best Assistant Undersecretary Award in 2020 and the UAE Pioneers Award in 2019.
Dr. Amna is a member of the Emirates Council for Environmental and Municipal Action, the Emirates Council for Climate Action, the National Strategy Implementation Council for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents, the Sports Coordinating Council, and other councils and committees. She also chairs the Child Protection Council in the school environment.
