President of the National Council for Women in Egypt
Maya Mohamed Abdel-Moneim Morsy took office as President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) in 2016, and she is a member of the UN CEDAW committee 2023-2026.
She served as UNDP Gender Regional Advisor 2013-2016, headed the Egypt Country Office United Nations Fund for Women 2011-2013, and worked in different international organizations.
She has managed and led more than 50 programs and authored more than 45 titles in areas of public policy, development, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.
She was awarded “the woman of the decade in public life and empowerment” in 2018 and the national award of one of the 100 most influential women in Egypt in 2016, among other local, regional, and international awards.
Morsy received a Ph.D. in Public Policy and two Master’s degrees at the City University of Seattle, USA, in Business Administration and Public Administration, after receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Political Science from the American University in Cairo.
