- The initiative is part of the Dubai International Programme for Writing.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has announced that all workshops under the Dubai International Programme for Writing will be held remotely.
The initiative is part of the #InvestInKnowledge campaign, which seeks to promote the production and dissemination of knowledge remotely, encouraging the public to invest some of their time at home in acquiring knowledge through the Foundation’s digital channels.
Organising the workshops remotely also serves to ensure participants’ safety while receiving the same level of training in literature and writing. The objective is to train generations of talented and creative Arab writers everywhere. The first remote training workshop launched in Dubai, focusing on short stories and presented by Eslam Abo Shkir.
MBRF’s CEO His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to carrying on with the workshops of the Dubai International Programme for Writing with the same efficiency during this difficult situation, which requires us all to practice social distancing to ensure the health and safety of all members of the community.
“The UAE’s digital infrastructure has allowed all entities and corporations to maintain their operations with the highest efficiency and continue to provide seamless and outstanding services,” H.E. added. “Today, we are reaping the benefits of these advanced technological solutions to sustain our projects and initiatives that aim to produce and disseminate knowledge, as well as to train talented Arab innovators across various sectors. All of these combined make up MBRF’s strategic objectives.”
The remote workshops will include a four-month seminar on children’s literature beginning on May 3, 2020, in Kuwait; it features Professor Hooda Al Shawa and brings together 10 participants. The workshop seeks to promote creative writing among participants to produce works for children and young adults, the best of which MBRF would later publish in collaboration with renowned publishing houses.
Furthermore, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation is set to introduce a young adult literature workshop in the UAE, led by author Wafa Al Mezghani on May 10, 2020, for a duration of five months.
The Dubai International Programme for Writing seeks to support and empower young talented writers around the world and across various disciplines of knowledge, science, research, literature, novel writing, and poetry. The Programme seeks to support talented authors, promote Arabic writing, and enhance its standing around the world.
