With knowledge, We Achieve AFTERWORD Sustainable Development
In 2014, the Knowledge Summit was launched to be an annual scientific and knowledge event with focus on the challenges the future presents to our region and the world, and how to invest in people, strengthen their abilities, and improve their lives. This is the result of great efforts of our team at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), which worked to host thousands of participants, decision makers and experts in panel discussions and workshops to come up with recommendations and solutions that push our future for the better.
This year, we are witnessing this remarkable event with the theme “Knowledge: The Path to Sustainable Development”, which reflects the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations, also known as the Global Goals - a universal call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
These goals are based on successful achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to include new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, the promotion of innovation, sustainable consumption, justice and healthy life on land and below water, as well as strategic and quality partnerships to achieve the goals.
We look forward to discussing these important subjects with our wise guests and academics who have worked hard in their diverse disciplines. We will undoubtedly benefit from them by delivering the fruits of their journey of knowledge on November 19-20 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
At the Summit, we will celebrate the winners of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, which succeeded in establishing a prestigious position among the international awards in support of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of MBRF, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award.
In close collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on the Knowledge Project, we have selected the winners from among prominent individuals and leading institutions around the world to highlight their humanitarian achievements, latest developments and future plans.
We will also unveil the results of the Global Knowledge Index, which includes more countries than last year, in addition to the “Future of Knowledge Foresight Report” which establish a connection between knowledge and future technology.
At the Knowledge Summit, we seek to represent the SDGs through a comprehensive and extensive discussion schedule, to address the root causes of the problems facing the world, and to work together to bring about positive change for both humans and the planet.
The Knowledge Summit is a celebration of achievements and will continue to discuss experiences and review best solutions and practices to meet the challenges that countries face. It is true that it is two days, but they are intensified by partnerships and knowledge exchanges, and inevitably, like all previous summits, will result in inspiring stories and genuine constructive partnerships that contribute to the realization of real Arab and global knowledge visions to achieve sustainable development.
In the same context of knowledge, this issue celebrates our Foundation’s achievements such as the ISO certification for Knowledge Management Systems Requirement, becoming the first non-profit organization in the world to get such recognition.
The Foundation also formed strategic partnerships during its participation in international exhibitions. We also dedicated pages to our great Arabic language and how to strengthen it among the new generation, the role of photography in promoting human tolerance, the achievements of Nobel Prize winners 2019, and other interesting subjects in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
