MBRF concludes its participation in Riyadh International Book Fair

October 09, 2022 - The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) concludes its participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair held in Riyadh, KSA, during which it showcased the recent publications of the Dubai International Program for Writing, as well as the Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution, an investment project by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation.

H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, during his visit along with MBRF’s delegation to the Qindeel stand at the Riyadh International Book Fair, emphasized the significance of its participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair, as it serves as an important knowledge event that appeals to the interests of numerous publishers, participants, as well as visitors. In addition to promoting knowledge on business management, creativity, and innovation, he underlined that the event showcases a broad variety of books as well as intellectual and cognitive output. H.E. further stated that the event provides the perfect platform for showcasing the knowledge publications of the Dubai International Program for Writing as well as to inform the KSA public of its initiatives and activities.

Bin Huwaireb also noted that by participating in the most significant local, Arab, and international exhibitions, the Dubai International Program for Writing aims to make books accessible to everyone at the most affordable price, to promote reading. He added that its participation in various international book helps in sharing the UAE’s leading experience in promoting the book industry. He further explained that the event also offers a supportive environment for writing that is capable of luring investments in the creative industries. This is because of the integrated system offered by the UAE to protect intellectual property and the rights of authors and publishers, as well as helping emerging publishing houses to showcase their publications in international exhibitions, in addition to introducing Emirati creators through the publications of UAE publishing houses.

Bin Huwaireb said: “The Riyadh International Book Fair serves as a platform for interaction between regional and international publishers. The event draws a wide variety of creative writers and authors, illuminates on the creative outputs, and inspires young talents by showcasing their production in a variety of literary fields.

He added: “The Dubai International Program for Writing, which was established in October 2013, was showcased at the event. It has made some of the most notable creative contributions to advancing the intellectual and literary movement in the UAE and all over the world. The program's various workshops and courses has resulted in several ground-breaking literary and intellectual outputs, produced by the affiliates. Through this participation, we are pleased to showcase the creative works of Emiratis across a range of subjects, through the Qindeel for Printing, Publishing and Distribution, and numerous publications of UAE publishing houses.”

A delegation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, led by His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, visited the General Secretariat of the Award in Riyadh on the sidelines of the event, and met with Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sabeel, Secretary-General of the King Faisal International Prize. The two parties reviewed the potential for implementing future projects focused on international knowledge awards and emphasized the significance of more cooperation between the King Faisal International Prize and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation.

The delegation from MBRF also visited the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language welcomed the delegation members. The two sides discussed on bilateral cooperation and mechanisms for developing them and explored the prospects for launching projects that reflect the mutual vision to increase knowledge momentum. The ‘Bil Arabi’ initiative is one of MBRF’s initiatives that focuses on providing various events through digital media channels and social media, thereby consolidating the use of the Arabic language.
