Dubai, UAE, 28 May 2025 - The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) organized a series of knowledge-focused events and discussion sessions as part of its ‘Knowledge Lounge’ initiative, paving the way for impactful intellectual discourse. This trailblazing initiative brings together readers and creatives from across the UAE and the broader Arab region, aiming to nurture positive reading habits in individuals.

MBRF organized two discussion sessions at the Abu Dhabi Library, facilitating a critical exploration of the central ideas and existential questions in the novel The Vegetarian by Korean author Han Kang, and the Japanese novel The Grass Pillow by Natsume Sōseki.

Similarly, a session titled “A Group Portrait of a Woman” was held in Ras Al Khaimah, with author Amal Ismail in attendance. It discussed women’s societal roles and their evolution as reflected in literature. Additionally, a session on The Palace Walk by Naguib Mahfouz took place at the Zayed Central Library in Al Ain as part of the initiative. Furthermore, a session was conducted at the Shoman Library in Amman, Jordan's capital, to analyze The Papers of Shimon the Egyptian by Osama El-Shazly.

H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, said, “These Knowledge Lounge sessions align with our long-standing vision to strengthen the broader intellectual and knowledge landscape, both regionally and internationally. Such events serve as vital platforms for the exchange of ideas among thinkers, creatives, and literature enthusiasts. At MBRF, we remain committed to expanding the scope of this initiative by organizing diverse and innovative sessions across the UAE and beyond, positioning knowledge as an integral facet of societal development, while consolidating the nation’s pioneering stature within the global knowledge landscape.”

Marking the conclusion of this month’s events, another Knowledge Lounge literary session will take place on 29 May 2025, highlighting the work The Prayer of Anxiety by Mohamed Samir Nada. The event will begin at 8 PM at the ‘Manassa Café’ in the Al Sedra Heritage District in the Al Luluyah area of Khorfakkan.

The session, scheduled to take place at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library starting at 7 PM, will facilitate discussions about the novel The Soldier’s War, with its author, Obaid Ibrahim Boumelha, in attendance. Such events reflect MBRF’s commitment to supporting Emirati writers by providing platforms for publishing and distribution, as well as organizing knowledge-sharing events that highlight their talent, further strengthening the national cultural identity and the UAE's local publishing and creative industries.
