MBRF delegation visits Egypt to strengthen cooperation prospects
Dubai, 29 July 2024- A delegation from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBRF) led by His Excellency Jamal Bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, visited the Arab Republic of Egypt to reinforce its cooperation with the country as well as to review their joint knowledge initiatives.
During the visit, the delegation met with His Excellency Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, to discuss the preparations for hosting the second edition of ‘Knowledge Youth Forum’ and the launch of ‘Knowledge Youth Week’ in Egypt. They also evaluated the work of the Ministry’s Knowledge Office, for which HE Jamal Bin Huwaireb was appointed as Honorary President. Furthermore, the meeting shed light on different ways to strengthen the partnership between the Foundation, UNDP and the Ministry to initiate knowledge movement within Egypt.
The delegation continued their tour of Egypt through a visit to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. They met with His Excellency Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt, to review the developments in the field of skill development and to grant the training licenses to the Ministry, as per their agreement. Additionally, the delegation gave a presentation on the Arab Innovation Forum, MBRF’s comprehensive Arab platform, which convenes experts, organisations and entrepreneurs. During the visit, the delegation also invited the Ministry to attend the Knowledge Youth Forum in Egypt and the 2024 Knowledge Summit, which will be organised in Dubai in November this year.
Along with HE Jamal bin Huwaireb, the delegation, which included Shamsa Al Balooshi, Director of Partnerships Management at MBRF, Dr. Khaled Abdel Fattah, Advisor of Knowledge and Digital Solutions at the MBRF, and Salem Al Owais, Chairman of Dubai International Writing Programme Committee, met with Eng. Abdul-Sadiq Al-Shorbagy, Head of the National Press Authority of Egypt. Commenting on the meeting, Al-Shorbagy underscored that it indicates a key initial step towards hosting joint events focusing on training and developing the technical and professional skills of Egyptian journalists. Furthermore, he expressed his pleasure at the visit that promises further cooperative initiatives in the future.
Additionally, the delegation met Dr Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Alexandria Library in Egypt, during their visit to the library. The meeting explored possibilities of joint cooperation to enhance and develop the knowledge library content to boost the youth’s talents and empower them for the future. During the visit, MBRF’s experience in launching Digital Knowledge Hub, an open platform, along with other projects, including the Global Knowledge Index and the Future Skills Platform, was presented in collaboration with UNDP.
HE Jamal Bin Huwaireb expressed his pleasure at joining the meetings with the Egyptian side, while highlighting the vital role of Egypt in pioneering the knowledge landscape in the region. He further underscored the role of joint coordination with Egypt’s National Press Authority in activating knowledge initiatives in the field of journalism. Furthermore, he added: “The visit to Egypt is part of an ongoing effort to improve cooperative ties between both countries. In the coming years, there will be more coordination and cooperation with Egypt in various fields of knowledge. At the Foundation, we aim to share our experience and expertise with key Egyptian institutions to support our common goals in developing knowledge communities among Egyptian and Arab youth in general.”
The delegation’s visit to Egypt reaffirms the strength of cooperation and collaboration between the two parties and plans to continue their visits to review joint knowledge initiatives. It also underscores their goal to introduce development projects and programmes aimed at Egyptian society.
