NEWS - MBRF Discusses Prospects of Co-operation with Egypt
Recently, a delegation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) visited the Arab Republic of Egypt and held a series of meetings with various entities to discuss prospects for cooperation on a set of knowledge projects.
The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) His Excellency Jamal Bin Huwaireb led the MBRF delegation that held meetings with Ain Shams University and Al-Ahram Foundation.
In cooperation with the Al-Ahram Foundation, MBRF announced the launch of the third phase of the “Dubai International Program for Writing”
in Egypt. The announcement was made in the presence of Abdel-Mohsen Salama, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahram Foundation, on the sidelines of a ceremony organized to recognize 44 journalists who attended a previous training in investigative journalism.
Lined up are two new training courses in digital journalism for Egyptian journalists which are planned to be held in March as part of the activities of “Dubai International Program for Writing.”
In his speech, His Excellency Jamal Bin Huwaireb said, MBRF, through its distinguished training programs, has a keen interest in developing the skills of young journalists in Al-Ahram institutions.
“Al-Ahram Foundation is the oldest media edifice in the world, and everyone who belongs to it should be proud of that,” H.E added.
Abdel-Mohsen Salama praised the strong partnership with MBRF as one of the most important collaborations Al-Ahram has with international institutions.
Salama honored Bin Huwaireb, in appreciation of the fruitful cooperation between MBRF and Al-Ahram, as well as MBRF’s efforts in enriching the art of professional writing.
During the visit to Ain Shams University, MBRF delegation met Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, the University’s Vice-President for Community Service
and Environmental Development, and Dr. Ashour Al-Amry, President of the General Authority for Adult Education. The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation in the promotion of literacy.
Bin Huwaireb emphasized that the illiteracy dilemma is a threat to national security and that the illiterate are a lost wealth that must be invested.
He noted that the University, in co-operation with MBRF, the Ministries of Local Development, Social Solidarity, Education, and the General
Authority for Adult Education need to activate an initiative dubbed, “a decent life” targeting the neediest and poorest of the villages.
His Excellency affirmed the importance of intensifying the efforts of all state institutions and the political leadership in Egypt to urge all parties
to continue education and eliminate illiteracy. He praised the role of university students in facing illiteracy, for being the positive energy produced in society. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid praised the Foundation’s initiatives, notably the “Literacy Challenge” initiative.
