300,000 Titles Made Available to Read and Download for Free via Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation’s ‘Digital Knowledge Hub’ Platform

  • Dubai
  • The Foundation had launched a campaign titled ‘Invest in Knowledge’ targeting the wider public.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) is providing books and publications for free for readers across the UAE via its ‘Digital Knowledge Hub’ platform – the largest Arabic content platform.

The initiative is part of the ‘Invest in Knowledge’ campaign the Foundation recently launched, which seeks to encourage all members of the community to invest the time they are spending at home in expanding their knowledge. It allows users to read and download from a collection of more than 300,000 titles and 3.5 million digital items via MBRF’s official website.

This, in turn, allows the Foundation to carry on with its social role and continue to promote knowledge in the community, providing the tools that make it possible to access it remotely.

Visitors to the platform can access the vast collection of titles, as well as summaries from the ‘A Book in Minutes’ initiative for international bestsellers, translated into Arabic, along with issues of MBRF’s Flashes magazine (and the Arabic edition, ‘Wamadat’), and the ‘Arab Library’ collection. The Hub’s collection of books cover all fields of knowledge.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, asserted that the advanced digital  infrastructure in Dubai and the UAE facilitated seamless digital solutions and activities, which further supported our transition to a smart government. “Promoting and acquiring knowledge is a key component of this ecosystem,” H.E. said, “and as the government entity entrusted with supporting the production and dissemination of knowledge, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation sought to provide all the necessary tools to continue to promote knowledge during the current situation.

“As part of our social responsibility during these difficult times, we sought to empower the ‘Digital Knowledge Hub’ platform to provide a vast collection of books, publications, and references catering to all members of the community,” H.E. bin Huwaireb explained. “This allows individuals to spend quality time at their homes. It also allows students to do their research at home, remotely accessing any reference or book they may need.”

All UAE residents can access the platform with no need for login details, while visitors from abroad have to register to benefit from the Hub’s content. On another note, the platform provides a set of interactive activities, most notably the ability to share the content they’re reading via social media. Visitors can set up their own library and where they can mark their favourite books and publications.

The ‘Digital Knowledge Hub’ presents an effective blueprint for developing digital information and knowledge hubs across the Arab world. It is an efficient tool that can be used to preserve the digital memory of Arab organisations and bridge the gap in terms of solutions and applications dedicated to Arabic digital content.
