MBRF delegation concludes its visit to Egypt
30 January 2023 – The delegation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) led by HE Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of the MBRF, concluded its visit to Egypt, which was part of its efforts to advance knowledge-based developments in the Arab world. During the visit, the MBRF explored innovative prospects for partnerships with various leading foundations and institutions that help promote knowledge across the Arab region. Additionally, the MBRF showcased its innovative projects and initiatives and provided expertise in matters of developing and disseminating knowledge.
The MBRF delegation visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt, where high-level meetings were held with various prominent figures, such as HE Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and HE Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education. These meetings entailed numerous fruitful discussions on fostering cooperation in order to advance and promote knowledge development. In addition, the MBRF also gave a brief regarding the results and performance of Egypt in the Global Knowledge Index and discussed several means to further improve these results, with the aim of uplifting the society and its members, as well as attaining sustainable development goals. Several distinctive projects and programs launched by the Foundation were also highlighted during these meetings; all of which are consistent with its commitment to enhancing the knowledge movement in the Arab region and the world.
To discuss the ‘Youth Knowledge Forum’ (YKF) and its significance in promoting knowledge as a creative force that drives the younger generation to embark on numerous significant endeavors and accomplish more important feats, the MBRF delegation also met with HE Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During this meeting, the delegation emphasized the outcomes of the YKF and spoke about its plans to organize this innovative platform in Egypt. Both parties further explored collaborative prospects in all possible fields, in line with their shared interests and goals aimed at empowering the youth.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb said, «Knowledge lays the foundation for developing numerous strategies and policies that elevate the economy. The younger generation is undoubtedly the most significant wealth and greatest resource of our nation, who plays a crucial role in developing the knowledge framework. At the MBRF, we are committed to strengthening the ties between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the sole aim of advancing collaborative efforts in a variety of knowledge-related fields. To this end, we have cultivated close relations with Egyptian ministries, councils, and government agencies that deal with knowledge, education, scientific research, youth empowerment, media development, and societal advancement. We have held several meetings during our visit to Egypt; all of which will enhance cooperation in knowledge-related fields as a key priority for both countries. We further look forward to undertaking other significant endeavors in the path of knowledge development, as well as launching collaborative initiatives and projects that contribute to promoting knowledge and supporting mutual aspirations.»
On the sidelines of this visit, the Foundation also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt, to explore innovative avenues and enhance cooperation in the media sector. The MoU; which was signed by HE Jamal bin Huwaireb and journalist Karam Gabr, Chairman of the Council; focused on strengthening bilateral relations, effectively managing all the knowledge resources, sharing knowledge and expertise, implementing innovative initiatives, and organizing research and knowledge forums, as well as award platforms to achieve their common objectives. Through these, they aim to promote knowledge development pathways on both economic and social levels.
The MBRF delegation further met with Dr. Randa Rizk, Secretary General of the Arab Council for Social Responsibility in Egypt, to discuss innovative means to foster bilateral cooperation between the two parties. The delegation also met with Dr. Hisham Azmy, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Culture, during which HE Jamal bin Huwaireb highlighted the Foundation’s distinct initiatives and projects. HE also highlighted the Digital Knowledge Hub, where the Council decided to increase its usage of this platform and its benefits, as well as making the best use of the resources it offers.
Dr. Hassan El-Bilawi, Secretary General of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, welcomed the MBRF delegation, and highlighted the significance of the Foundation in promoting knowledge on regional and global levels. He further discussed the means to enhance cooperation between both parties in an effort to advance knowledge as part of their duly signed MoU on 28 December 2022.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Higher Education and the team from the United Nations Development Program also met, in order to further knowledge growth in society and create a brighter future based on knowledge and innovation. The two parties highlighted the significance of higher education institutions in enabling and encouraging youth to engage in diverse knowledge-related events. They also spoke about working together to create projects and programs that would help young people realize their potential and contribute more effectively to knowledge.
