موسوعة "الحضارة الإسلامية في صقلية"… حيث تتقاطع الحضارات وتُروى الحكايات
تفتح موسوعة "الحضارة الإسلامية في صقلية" التي أطلقتها مؤسسة محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم للمعرفة للقارئ نافذة فريدة على فصل مشرق من التاريخ، حين كانت الجزيرة المتوسطية مركز إشعاع حضاري في العصور الإسلامية (831–1091م). وقد أعدّت الموسوعة الراحلة الدكتورة سلمى الخضراء الجيوسي، الشاعرة والناقدة الفلسطينية، بعد أكثر من 18 عاماً من الجهد والتدقيق، لتخرج مرجعاً شاملاً باللغة الإنجليزية يهتدي به الباحثون والمؤرخون حول العالم.
تضم الموسوعة 30 بحثاً شارك في إعدادها 29 باحثاً من دول عربية وغربية، بينهم 15 إيطالياً، لتوثّق الحياة الاقتصادية، والاجتماعية، والعمرانية، إلى جانب أنماط الطهي والري في صقلية، وتكشف كيف أثّرت الحضارة العربية في مفردات الحياة اليومية. 
يستعرض هذا العمل الموسوعي التأثيرات المتبادلة بين الثقافة العربية والإيطالية، مع التركيز على إسهام اللغة العربية في تطور اللغة الإيطالية، لا سيما من خلال المفردات والمصطلحات ذات الأصل العربي. كما يتناول أثر العمارة الإسلامية في تشكيل الطراز المعماري لمدن إيطاليا، خاصة في المناطق التي خضعت للتأثير العربي مثل صقلية. وتشمل الدراسة مجالات أخرى تأثرت بالحضور العربي، كالأدب، والموسيقى، والعلوم، إلى جانب الأشكال الأدبية والفنية التي برزت خلال فترة الحكم العربي لصقلية، والتي تركت بصمات واضحة في النتاج الثقافي والمعرفي الأوروبي في العصور اللاحقة.

"The Legacy of Muslim Sicily" encyclopedic book, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, offers readers distinctive glimpse into a vibrant era of history when Sicily, the Mediterranean island, flourished as a beacon of civilization during the Islamic era (831–1091 CE). The late Palestinian poet and critic, Prof. Salma Khadra Jayyusi, edited this comprehensive reference work over more than 18 years of dedicated, meticulous research. The result is an authoritative English-language resource that guides scholars and historians around the world. The encyclopedia comprises 30 studies, contributed by 29 researchers from Arab and Western countries, including Italians. It documents various aspects of economic, social, and urban life in Sicily, as well as culinary traditions and irrigation practices, shedding light on how Arabic civilization influenced everyday life. This comprehensive project explores the reciprocal influences between Arab and Italian cultures, with particular emphasis on the Arabic language’s contribution to the evolution of Italian—especially in vocabulary and terminology of Arabic origin. It also examines the influence of Islamic architecture on the styles of Italian cities, particularly in regions historically shaped by Arab presence, such as Sicily. The study further delves into other domains impacted by Arab culture, including literature, music, and science, as well as the artistic and literary forms that flourished during Arab rule in Sicily. These cultural elements left enduring imprints on European intellectual and cultural development in the centuries that followed.

يشهد العالم اليوم مرحلة تحوّل جذري تقودها التكنولوجيات المتقدمة، وعلى رأسها الذكاء الاصطناعي، وإنترنت الأشياء، وتقنيات البلوك تشين، في ظل هيمنة متزايدة للبيانات الضخمة. وقد أسهم هذا التكامل بين التقنيات الحديثة في نشوء نمط اقتصادي جديد يُعرف بـ"الاقتصاد الذكي". 
فبعد أن اعتدنا على مفاهيم الاقتصاد الرقمي، التي ازدهرت مع انتشار الإنترنت وتطبيقات الهواتف الذكية مثل أنظمة التجارة الإلكترونية، وخدمات الدفع الإلكتروني، والتحويلات المصرفية عبر الإنترنت، نشهد اليوم بزوغ حقبة جديدة تتسم باعتماد العملات المشفرة في المعاملات التجارية، مما يمهد الطريق لاقتصاد أكثر ذكاءً وتكاملاً تقوده الخوارزميات والبيانات.

The world today is undergoing a profound transformation driven by advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and blockchain. This shift is taking place alongside the growing dominance of big data. The integration of these modern technologies has led to the emergence of a new economic model known as the "smart economy."
Having adapted to the digital economy—fueled by the rise of the internet and smartphone applications such as e-commerce platforms, electronic payment systems, and online banking—we are now entering a new era marked by the use of cryptocurrencies in commercial transactions. This development signals the beginning of a more intelligent and integrated economic system shaped by algorithms and data.
The smart economy does not merely mean using technology; it means transforming technology into a decision-making partner. Artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and predictive analytics have become the foundational infrastructure of an economy that is more efficient and adaptable, where decisions are based on precise data analysis, and services are delivered instantly and tailored to individual needs.
But the key question remains: Are we ready for all this? Transitioning to a smart economy goes beyond possessing technological tools. It requires skilled human capital capable of understanding and analyzing data, flexible legislation that supports innovation while protecting privacy, and an institutional culture that encourages experimentation and growth.
The opportunities are immense, but so are the challenges. Countries that prepare for this transformation today will lead the global economy tomorrow. This is where governments must step in to drive the change through investment in digital infrastructure, developing talent, and building strategic partnerships.

شَهلا العُجيلي: روائية النقد وصوت السرد المتجدد
تعد الدكتورة شَهلا العُجيلي من أبرز الأصوات السرديّة والنقديّة في المشهد المعرفي العربي المعاصر، حيث تجمع بين العمق الأكاديمي والخيال الأدبي الخصيب. تحمل شهادة الدكتوراه في الدراسات الثقافيّة من جامعة حلب في سوريا، وتشغل اليوم منصب أستاذة مشاركة للأدب الحديث والدراسات الثقافيّة في الجامعة الأميركيّة في مادبا بالأردن، كما تشارك بخبرتها الإبداعيّة في تدريب الكتّاب الشباب من خلال برنامج دبيّ الدوليّ للكتابة.
في عالم الرواية، أبدعت العُجيلي أعمالاً لامست التجربة الإنسانيّة في بُعدَيها الشخصي والجمعي، فكانت روايتها "سماء قريبة من بيتنا" إحدى أبرز محطاتها، حيث وصلت إلى القائمة القصيرة للجائزة العالميّة للرواية العربيّة (البوكر) عام 2015، وتكرّر الإنجاز بروايتها "صيف مع العدوّ" عام 2019. أما روايتها "عين الهرّ"، فحصدت جائزة الدولة الأردنيّة في الآداب عام 2010، تأكيداً على تميّزها في تقديم سرد متين ومؤثّر.
في مجال القصّة القصيرة، سطع اسمها مع مجموعة "المشربيّة"، بينما نالت "سرير بنت الملك" جائزة الملتقى للقصة القصيرة 2017، وهي أرفع جائزة عربيّة في هذا النوع الأدبي.
تُرجمت أعمالها إلى لغات عدّة، منها الإنجليزيّة والألمانيّة والإيطاليّة والإسبانيّة والفارسيّة والصربيّة، ما جعل صوتها يتردد في فضاءات عالميّة، ويؤكد حضورها ككاتبة عربية تُخاطب الإنسان أينما كان.
 

Shahla Ujaily: The Critic-Novelist and the Voice of Renewed Narrative
Dr. Shahla Ujayli stands among the most prominent novelist and critical voices in contemporary Arab intellectual life. She uniquely blends academic depth with rich literary imagination. Holding a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the University of Aleppo, Syria, she currently serves as an Associate Professor of Modern Literature and Cultural Studies at the American University in Madaba, Jordan. Beyond academia, she shares her creative expertise by mentoring young writers through the Dubai International Writing Program. In novel, Shahla has produced works that touch upon the human experience in both its personal and collective dimensions. Her novel "Sky Close to Our House" marked one of her major milestones, making the shortlist for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF/Arabic Booker) in 2015. She repeated this achievement with her novel "Summer with the Enemy" in 2019. Her novel "Cat’s Eye" won the Jordan State Award in Literature in 2010, affirming her mastery in crafting powerful and moving narratives. In short story, she rose to prominence with her collection "The Mashrabiya", while her work "The King’s Daughter’s Bed" won the Multaqa Prize for the Arabic Short Story in 2017, the highest honor in this literary genre. Her works have been translated into several languages, including English, German, Italian, Spanish, Persian, and Serbian, allowing her voice to echo across global literary spaces and affirming her presence as an Arab writer who speaks to humanity wherever it may be.
