DIPW: Arab Creativity to Global Heights Since its launch in 2013, the Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW)—an initiative by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF)—has empowered young talent in creative writing and translation. DIPW supports participants across science, literature, fiction, and more, by offering a comprehensive training environment designed to help them reach global audiences. DIPW comprises 5 main components: creative writing, writer exchange programs, the My Story competition, translation, and the Knowledge Lounge. It has significantly enriched the Arab intellectual landscape, nurturing over 450 emerging talents who have collectively produced 200 works, including novels, short stories, children’s and young adult literature, translations, and illustrated children's books. Several DIPW participants have earned prestigious literary honors, including the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, the Emirates Novel Award, and the Al Owais Creativity Award. Notably, some of their works—like The Ceiling of Dreams by Badriya Al Shamsi—have been adopted into school curricula. DIPW has expanded its reach across the Arab world, hosting workshops and events in Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan, and engaging more than 500 creatives to date. |
